At top, Ginny Furnish portrayed the “Cat in the Hat” at the Pre-school Story Time on March 5. The youngsters were enthralled with the adventures of the “Cat” and also enjoyed dancing with Bill Evans at the piano. Miss Ginny then helped her “little kittens” with coloring and crafts. The cat theme continued on March 8 at Family Story Time when kids of all ages enjoyed meeting Scarlet, the Guinness World Record’s “Tallest Domestic Cat in the World,” at bottom. Lee Draper of Savannah Cat Breeders owns the friendly cat.

City Connection: Hats off to cats

A cat in a hat and a tall cat were the center of attention at last week’s story times at the Library. Tomorrow, March 13, kids are invited to a drawing class at the Library, hosted by Jerry Bates. The class will be offered from 11 a.m. to noon. Following are some of the other upcoming events:
     • Spring Fling will be the theme for Pre-school Story Time hosted by Ginny Furnish on Friday, March 19, from 11 a.m. to noon.
     • Residents are invited to bring their old documents to the Library’s shredding event on Saturday, March 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $2 for a file-size box or trash bag; proceeds will benefit the Library.
     • A writing workshop for learning how to write family stories will be held on Monday, March 22.
     • Movie night will be held on Monday, March 29, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Two new weekly story times will begin this month. Toddler Story Time will be held on Mondays from 11 to 11:30 a.m., beginning March 22. A Kindergarten to 3rd grade Story Time will be held every Wednesday from 3:30 to 4 p.m., beginning March 24.
Stop by the library to learn about these programs and other events that are scheduled for the near future. There are children’s and family programs every week, offered by Friends of the Library.
